Dear fans, to make it clear...! After a time out from the group Mary Joe was back in 2004. She wanted to give something back to the fans by performing with live voices and real instruments instead of playback.
Annika, aka Mary Joe, is the singer and voice behind all the major hits of Rednex, like "Cotton Eye Joe", "Old pop in an oak", "Wish You ere here" and many more. She put the physical band together in 1994 and has been the "face" of Rednex since then with lots of hard work, sweat and joy !
Mary Joe tells -During the period of 1994-1997 there was no time for soundcheck or live performance because of a tight tour schedule. Sometimes with up to 3 shows per day which made it impossible for a live show. I prefered live but there was no logistic time for that.
In 2004 she recruited real instrumentalists and real singers, which made old members drop out pretty fast.
One of the producers between 1994-2004, Patrik Ranis Edenberg, was not a part of the band being successful again and started a witch hunt.
When performing around the world today, you often see 3 generations of family members in the audience. "Cotton eye Joe Show" also works a lot with charity. This makes it important not to stand for illeague substances.

The Cotton eye Joe show is performing a lot of old songs from their history in Rednex, but also new songs.
In several countries the songtitle "Cotton eye joe" is more known than the name Rednex. This made it easy for them to take the step and to offer their fans a better and more true performance on stage...
